Tax Return

In the UK, a tax return is an HMRC form, usually filled in online, that summarises details of untaxed income and gains made by an individual during a tax year.

It is made up of many different sections for all the types of income a person can earn, such as land and property or self-employment, and includes a calculation showing how much tax is owed.

Tax returns in the UK are filed annually, by 31 January each year, and forms part of the self assessment system put in place by HMRC.
